HWP to PDF & Word Converter

Convert Hangul (HWP) documents to PDF and Word (.docx). Files are converted in your browser and never uploaded.

Files are never uploaded — everything happens in your browser. The preview and PDF follow the original layout closely; Word output is rebuilt around paragraphs, tables and images so it’s easy to edit.

Guide

Key points

  • Converts HWP documents to PDF (keeps the layout) and Word (for editing).
  • Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
  • HWPX isn't supported yet — save as .hwp in Hangul first.

How to use it

  1. Drop a .hwp file or click to choose one. The first time, the converter engine (a few MB) is downloaded.
  2. When conversion finishes, a preview close to the original layout appears below.
  3. Save as PDF opens the print dialog — choose “Save as PDF” as the destination.
  4. Download Word (.docx) saves an editable Word file.

PDF vs. Word output

  • PDF keeps the page layout close to the original — best for sharing, submitting and printing.
  • Word is rebuilt around paragraphs, tables and images — best when you need to edit the text on a computer without Hangul.

What’s supported

  • HWP files from Hangul 2002 and later. HWPX isn’t supported yet — in Hangul, use Save As → “Hangul document (*.hwp)” first.
  • Documents with complex overlapping text boxes, shapes or equations may shift slightly or lose some parts.
  • Fonts that aren’t installed on your device are replaced with similar ones.
  • Password-protected and distribution-locked documents can’t be converted.
  • Large documents need a lot of memory and may fail on older phones — try a computer instead.

Privacy

Your file is never uploaded. The converter runs inside your browser, so the document stays on your device. It uses the open-source @ohah/hwpjs library (MIT), which is still pre-1.0, so some documents may not convert perfectly.

FAQ

Do I need Hangul installed?

No. Any recent browser can open an HWP file here and save it as PDF or Word.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser; the file never leaves your device.

Why aren't HWPX files supported?

The current engine only reads the HWP format (Hangul 2002 and later). Re-save the file as .hwp in Hangul, then convert it.

The Word file looks different from the original — why?

Word output is rebuilt around paragraphs, tables and images so it's easy to edit. Use Save as PDF if you need the exact layout.
